Visit of Aaron Wess Mitchell to Belarus may become historical

4 ноября 2018

Alexander Lukashenko has met with US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Aaron Wess Mitchell. The dialogue took place shortly before the start of the forum.

They talked about bilateral affairs, discussed the global and regional agenda. This visit claims to get a historical status in the official relations of Minsk and Washington.

Interestingly, Aaron Mitchell noted, in particular, our really multi-vector policy, when a small country does not try to please anyone and acts predictably and openly with both allies and partners, big and small. It was noted that Belarus has real sovereignty, which it does not trade. And security in the region is our common strategic interest.

By the way, we used to often complain about the insignificance of the economic ties between Belarus and the USA. Now, as it is fashionable to say, trends are changing. The economic foundation is growing. The absence of sanctions barriers in petrochemistry, the rapid development of the IT sector is having an effect.

At the same time, the US business directly notes the low level of corruption in Belarus and political stability. This is exactly what distinguishes our country in the region. Also, a very talented and educated young generation of Belarusians contributes to the reset of relations. They speak the same language with their peers from the USA. And this is another brick in the foundation of future relations.
