Minsk hosts this season’s Track Cycling World Cup last stage

This week, Chizhovka Arena in Minsk brought together the world’s strongest track cyclists. The last stage of the Track Cycling World Cup took place there.

Belarus hosted this competition for the first time. The Belarusian athletes were close to the podium, especially in the men's race on points, and even set a new national record in the men's team sprint.

Also, international experts were quite pleased with the organization of the event in Minsk and expressed their confidence that the track cycling competitions at the Second European Games in 2019 will be held at the highest level.

Enrico Della Casa, the Secretary General of the European Cycling Union, noted that this is his third visit to Minsk and said that ECU fully trusts Belarus to host the Second European Games. Also, Enrico Della Casa pointed out he was glad the programme of the 2019 Games now includes cycling, since this will enable athletes to score qualification points for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
