The President has urged to create an optimal control activity system in Belarus. An interdepartmental group on behalf of the President inspected the efficiency of the State Control Committee for about a month, which was preceded by the monitoring of the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office and other authorities. Alexander Lukashenko requested the country’s regulatory bodies to carry out their work carefully and fairly.
One of the tasks is to analyse the existing rules, for example, in the sanitation and fire supervision spheres, and make the necessary adjustments. Excessive inspection of businesses and enterprises is unnecessary. In the near future, the State Control Committee will pay attention to improving the public procurement process to eliminate loopholes for contractual tenders. Also, an emphasis will be placed on implementing major investment projects.
President met with Security Council State Secretary Stanislav Zas on Thursday to discuss the work of defence agencies, their optimisation and staff training. Alexander Lukashenko has repeatedly raised the issue of improving the system of training in military educational institutions, setting the task to adjust the training to modern realities and make it practice-oriented. Terms of training in certain specialties will be reconsidered.
Stanislav Zas also reported on the preparation of a package of proposals on optimising the Interior Ministry. The State Secretary cited an example of the traffic police. Compared to last year, the number of road accidents and associated deaths has decreased by 13%. In many ways, this is due to modern speed camera systems and other measures taken in Belarus. There has also been a positive trend in fighting crime. Such statistics allows making steps to optimise the resources involved in ensuring security.
