The internal political life of Belarus accelerated so much towards the end of the year that much of its beginning has been forgotten. For example, work to modernize the basic law. The President launched it back in 2018. By the beginning of this year, the experts on constitutional law managed to prepare two options at once.
Message to the people and Parliament
President: "If society needs changes, they will be introduced. All reforms must begin with the Constitution. Not with street actions, but with the basic law. Returning to the 1994 Constitution is absurd. We must move forward. And this applies not only to the economy, but also to politicians. I am personally ready for any changes, if they are for the benefit of the people, and if you are ready for them The main thing is that the Constitution should not provoke a political crisis, cause paralysis of the administrative system, as it was in the mid-90s."
Alexander Subbotin, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus: "The reforms will be evolutionary, not revolutionary. And there will be a new Constitution. Again, it is up to us to decide in what format it will be."
Next is the pre-election campaign, one of the most difficult in history. The authorities are fighting the first wave of the pandemic and repulsing attacks from outside. The political solution is full openness and invitation to the WHO mission.
The opponents' campaign is carried out by funds from the USA and institutions of Poland, the Baltic countries, the Czech Republic and Ukraine.
Lukashenko’s victory will be confirmed by an exit poll, the majority of national and three international observer missions - SCO, CIS and independent European ones. But the launched flywheel of the white "Maidan" cannot be stopped.
In the first days alone there were 120 wounded security officers, 7 auto-rams in any civilized country this is terrorism. But the system doesn't break. The Yanukovych-2 scenario does not work. We later learned about this scenario from the intelligence reports.
.
Stage one - August, Poland expects blitzkrieg.
"The future of Belarus is of fundamental importance for Poland. The western territories of Belarus historically belong to Poland. Warsaw has already taken many concrete steps to help the Belarusian revolution: financial support through Polish and Polish-American programs of solidarity with victims of Lukashenko regime, inviting Belarusian students, simplifying border crossing rules, supporting independent media and NGOs."
President: "Polish officials call on NATO to establish special security forces within the army of the Baltic countries and Poland. According to the plan, this army can be used to fight the Belarusian authorities."
The victory of the revolution in Belarus is also Poland's national interest. The final act of the "blitzkrieg" was supposed to be the division of the Belarusian state. But the plan failed. And at the end of August, Warsaw switched to blockade tactics.
"Lukashenko’s regime is still too united, the army and the KGB support it, but the workers don’t support any revolutions at all. Now we must wait. Poland proposes to create a situation in Belarus so that its economy collapsed, the ruble devaluated, the store shelves were empty. We must convince Turkey, Greece, Azerbaijan and Armenia not to export food because of the danger of the coronavirus."
We have yet to sum up the political outcome of the year – it will be done at the All-Belarusian Assembly.
