On Tuesday, the Head of State and the Security Council discussed the new edition of the concept of information security. This is a “small constitution” of the presence of the government, society, business and each individual person in the information space, from cyberterrorism to the notorious fake news.
The previous concept of national information security in Belarus was developed 10 years ago. Since then, the manipulations with the human mind have grown tenfold. Cyber weapons, virtual aggression against infrastructure, public administration systems and local communities became habitual. Fake news is becoming a sophisticated tool of influence on society
World ratings put Belarus on the top places in digitalization, in access to high-speed Internet we are one of the leaders in Europe, and there is still no uniform set of laws for the “virtual” space. They will grow on the basis of the Concept, but the President emphasizes that they don’t intend to shut up anyone’s mouth in Belarus. Belarus is against the enslavement of freedom in the web space. The concept provides for regular updating of the legal framework, laws on media and advertising. We are waiting for the adoption of the Concept as a master plan for development this week.
