A representative delegation of Kaliningrad Oblast headed by the governor Anton Alikhanov visited Minsk this week.
Last year, the trade between Belarus and Kaliningrad amounted to $ 190 million. The figures are small, but there are more projects for intensifying the cooperation. As Alexander Lukashenko noted during the talks, Belarus and Kaliningrad Oblast have good opportunities for consolidating the industrial cooperation, as well as cooperation in agriculture, construction and transport.
Kaliningrad now resembles one large construction site. Next year, together with other Russian cities, it will host the 2018 FIFA World Cup. At the moment, reconstruction of the airport and construction of the main football arena is under way. In addition, the facades of houses are changing, hotels and interchanges are being built. At many of these objects, they use Belarusian building materials. Belarusian specialists work there, too.
