Interfaith peace and church integration into social processes discussed at Palace of Independence

The Head of State met with participants in the Holy Synod of the Russian and Synod of the Belarusian Orthodox Church.

The high authority and versatile activity of the church have always been the key to stability in the Belarusian land. In close cooperation with the state, its creative force brings an undoubted contribution not only in the religious aspect.

Alexander Lukashenko spoke about peace and security with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. The President emphasized the importance of unity in the church and stressed: in difficult moments, Minsk is always ready to give an opportunity for dialogue to both politicians and the clergy.

On the same day, the Synod was held on the Belarusian land for the first time in the entire history of the Russian Orthodox Church. The meeting of the hierarchs was held in a closed format for the press and chaired by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
