Minsk and Caracas develop relations

8 октября 2017

On Thursday the Belarusian capital welcomed the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro. In the summer of 2013, the Bolivarian leader made one of the first foreign visits in the rank of the President to Belarus. These relations have passed the test of time: Belarus and Venezuela have repeatedly helped each other in difficult situations. The key message is to fill the relationship with new content. And to give the Venezuelan economy a new breath, including due to the Belarusian experience and Belarusian technologies in various fields.

In November in Minsk, the Presidents agreed to hold a meeting of the joint commission, which will develop a road map. And in order not to delay the implementation of joint projects, the Belarusian leader is ready to make a visit to Venezuela.

In the meantime, objectively, the rates of mutual trade have decreased for various reasons.

Nicolas Maduro hopes to restart the relationship. This is necessary and it is absolutely real, because the mutual interest of Minsk and Caracas is alive and genuine. Ten years ago, the rapid growth of trade turnover between countries began. Now there is some decline, because the Venezuelan economy was originally raw. The largest reserves of oil on the planet are wealth, but the market conditions and external pressure make their own adjustments. So modification and diversification should be carried out more actively.

Specialists, technologies, modern developments - we have everything in order to reform the raw Venezuelan economy. Oil and gas production, housing construction, assembly production, agriculture - dozens of joint projects need to be stirred up.
