By Veronika Rimashevskaya: Online shopping makes up only a half percent of the country's retail trade turnover. However, this figure is significant for the young Belarusian electronic market, experts say.

Last year, Belarusians made ??about 5 million purchases online, with an average bill amounting to 91 dollars. An average shopper has spent about 300 dollars over the past six months.

According to E-Commerce expert Evgenia Chernyavskaya, electronics, household appliances and mobile phones are among the most poplar products. The demand for fashion clothing, accessories and children goods has increased over the past few years.

A significant proportion of buyers purchase cinema, theater and concert tickets on the Internet. Belarusian online shopping services are enjoyed not only in the neighbouring countries, but also in Europe, Canada and the USA. Over the past four 4 months, foreigners have spent more than 3 million dollars on the Belarusian electronic market.

A large-scale study of online trade has been held in Belarus for the first time, with another coming up in autumn. After that, the dynamics of e-commerce development in Belarus will be analyzed by experts.
