By Viktoria Potonya: The Brest-Severny container terminal can unload about 700 large containers a day, but only a quarter of its reserves is currently being used. The lion's share of the goods transported from Europe to Asia and back consists of electronics and spare parts and components for the mechanical engineering industry.

Belarus is considered a key area of the New Silk Road project. The transportation of goods will be carried out by air, land, water and railway.

Experts from Belarus, Germany, Kazakhstan and Russia met in Brest today to discuss the role of the Brest railway junction on the Eurasian transport and logistics market. By the end of the year, it is planned to set up a joint Belarusian-Russian enterprise for container traffic in Brest.

Over the past six months, about 20,000 containers with Chinese goods have run on the Belarusian Railways, which is 2.5 times more than last year. Experts believe that a well-built logistics system will enhance the opportunities of rail traffic.
