Talks on Belarus' accession to World Trade Organisation begin in Geneva today

The first round of talks on Belarus' accession to the World Trade Organisation has launched in Geneva today. The negotiations will be based on the so-called report on accession. Experts believe that Belarus might join the WTO before the end of the year.

First Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Andrei Yevdochenko, who is heading the Belarusian delegation in Geneva, has shared the latest details in a telephone interview.

Giving an interview to the Main Air programme, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Ulakhovich said there were no serious obstacles for Belarus’ accession to the WTO.

The negotiations in Geneva will last till 26 January. In addition to the main agenda, the Belarusian delegation plans to hold bilateral meetings with representatives of tens of countries.
