Active harvesting of vegetables takes place in Belarus. The Mogilev region lays emphasize on the products highly demanded by foreign customers. The region has managed not only to reduce the number of unprofitable enterprises, but also to reach pre-crisis volumes of vegetable production.

By Andrei Yastrebov: The Bykhov vegetable can factory will produce this season up to five million notional cans of ready-made product for further export to Russia, the Baltic States, Georgia, Azerbaijan. Almost half of the yield will be exported.

The plant has begun to work with raw materials supplied by customers thus ensuring its full use of production capacities for a year ahead. Now European partners are bringing here frozen vegetables for processing.

The plant will be processing tomatoes, cucumbers and marrow squash. Canned peas and corn will be produced from quick-frozen raw materials from Moldova, Serbia, Ukraine.

In addition, a cluster of suppliers from local gardeners and farmers has been created.

Today the plant is thinking about expanding production. This year the enterprise will begin to pay off debts. A couple of years ago it was almost bankrupt.

This year the Mogilev region has managed to revive three enterprises and significantly improve its economic performance. Net profit since the beginning of the year has increased by 2.5 and amounted to almost 100 million rubles.
