The first UnionPay terminal has appeared in Belarus. Only Chinese tourists can use it now, though. The payment system is now being tested at the Embassy of Belarus in China. It enables people to pay the consular fee through a special application on their smartphone by simply scanning the QR code. Today, such cards are accepted in 168 countries. Belarusbank and UnionPay International are actively working on the implementation of this system.
It is planned that by late 2019, nearly 50,000 UnionPay terminals will appear in Belarus. Thus, the virtual payment system will cover almost the entire country.
