Alexander Lukashenko discussed the upcoming projects with the chairman of the board of directors of Emaar Properties.
The investors already know Belarus well, and pay attention to the business climate and geography, rather than slogans and attempts at political turbulence. The United Arab Emirates is a longstanding and friendly partner of Belarus among the Persian Gulf countries. Our President has visited the UAE repeatedly. Strong and warm relations with the leadership of this country have indeed been established. There are many joint projects in industry, banking, logistics and military-technical cooperation.
The Emirates is the leading financial and economic center in the Middle East. It is a country with a capacious solvent market. It has vast experience and appropriate infrastructure to transport goods to Africa and Asia. Our country is seen by our Arab partners as a promising destination for investment, a country with huge transit potential. And so one of the largest investors in the UAE came to the market of Belarus.
Alexander Lukashenko discussed the upcoming projects with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Emaar Property. A year ago Mohamed Alabbar came to our capital: it was about investments into the real sector of economy, and now the billionaire has returned to invest in several projects at once. Mohamed Alabbar is the co-owner of companies in the field of investments, real estate and logistics. His business is present in 50 countries of the world, and now Belarus is among them.
The project in which the billionaire will invest is a "smart city". This is the development of the northern part of Minsk, where in addition to traditional real estate objects, many social projects are implemented. This is a modern university, other educational institutions, as well as sports and health facilities.
"Smart City" will start with the national exhibition complex. The investor is convinced that today such a facility is the face of any capital. Besides the areas for expositions and business halls for negotiations, they will pay much attention to art sites and places of recreation for children. The complex should blend harmoniously with the architectural ensemble of the Belarusian capital. The construction will start very soon, and a memorable capsule was laid in the foundation of the future exhibition center.
The guests are sure that the facility will become a landmark not only for our country, but for the whole European region. This complex development is designed for decades, taking into account all phases of its implementation. But the exhibition complex itself is planned to be built quickly, within 14-15 months maximum. The Belarusian government is convinced that the implementation of such a large-scale project will be a signal to other businessmen that dealing with us can be beneficial
