Price monitoring continues in Belarus

9 июня 2021

The price monitoring in Belarus continues. According to the government decree, the monthly increase in the cost of socially-significant goods should not exceed two tenths of a percent. The trade union inspectors and members of the Council of the Republic will control how well the state and private retail chains comply with this requirement. In addition to the cost, they also monitor the availability of strategic goods. Today, the raids take place in Rogachev. The route included grocery stores and pharmacies. Potatoes, onions, milk, flour and rice are among the most important products. In the list of medical products there is a group of general antibiotics, heart medications, respiratory medications and a number of other medicines. According to the results of the inspection, no serious violations of product positions were detected in the district center.

Andrei Shishkin, member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus:

There were cases of price fluctuations for vegetables, but it is usually associated with the seasonality of their production. We also uncovered two facts of rising prices of medicines in private pharmacy chains. In the case of revealing such facts, we make a request to the manufacturer, the retail network or directly contact the MART.

Price monitoring will continue in all regions. The main task is to prevent unreasonable price increases.
