By Svetlana Lukyanjuk: Each ministry, region, district and major cities are working on plans with specific measures to improve energy efficiency. The emphasys is laid on renewable resources and local fuel. For example, the energy of wind and sun. The largest amount of savings is expected from the introduction of modern production technologies.

In total, 8 wind power plants, 7 photovoltaic stations and 3 hydro-power plants were built in the country over the past year. The main task is to reduce the energy intensity of GDP by 0.8 percent this year.

The reduction of costs, especially in the industrial complex, was part of the reports made by the Government, the National Bank and the regional executive committees at the highest level. After all, costs are reflected in the final price of goods which influences their competitiveness on the external and internal markets.

This topic was also touched upon during an interview given by Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko to our TV channel.

The economy of fuel and energy resources is also provided by introducing modern energy-efficient technologies and local fuels into production.

The use of local fuels is gradually increasing in Belarus. In figures, their share is about 16 percent. There is slightly more than 6 percent of energy received from renewable sources.

Belarus is reducing the costs and the number of procedures required for energy supply. This is beneficial for new enterprises and industries.
