Now everyone says that sanctions are a time of opportunity. This is confirmed by the great interest aroused by Belarus on the platform of the St. Petersburg Economic Forum.
New opportunities for cooperation between Belarus and Russia
The second and third days of the St. Petersburg Economic Forum were more than productive. At first, a profitable contract with Bashkortostan was signed, and it was only the beginning. Then came a range of plans and agreements.
Alexander Shakutin, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Amkodor OJSC:
“Why Bashkortostan? This is probably one of those territories where decisions are made really fast and quickly. Any investor wants to go there, where business can be run, factories can be built quickly, production can be established. We have two investment projects. The first project is the creation of a service center. For our products to work efficiently, it is necessary to create conditions for service, repair, and spare parts. Accordingly, we are making our first investment in creating the infrastructure. At the same time we have begun building a factory with 20 thousand square meters area, where the production will be about $100 mln. The total investment is more than 2.5 billion Russian rubles.”
Mikhail Degtyarev, Governor of the Khabarovsk region of Russia:
“We will develop cooperation, first of all, in the field of meat and dairy cattle breeding. We want to bring Belorussian technology to the Khabarovsk Krai and build a pilot company. Plus, of course, we will continue and increase our food purchases. They are growing, and the products are of very high quality, produced by Belarusian farmers. And MAZs and BelAZ trucks are bought by our businessmen, and a lot of them, as well as for the construction of our railroads, the eastern section of Russian Railways, plus the Pacific Private Railway and port infrastructure. We are developing at a rapid pace. And this is all machinery. MAZ, BelAZ are suitable. This is why we came up with a proposal. We started with the Far Eastern centers. It would be logical to have it in Khabarovsk. On their basis, we plan to start assembly operations in the next year or a year and a half depending on the volume, and I can say for sure that there will be volumes.”
The fact that Belarus has a reputation as a reliable partner with quality products is evidenced by the desire to increase the rate of cooperation on all fronts.
