Alexander Lukashenko met with Deputy Prime Minister Yury Nazarov and Minister of Industry Petr Parkhomchik. The President made it clear that he was interested notin forecasts, but in the result and a specific plan.
At the beginning of the meeting the President said: "We are not interested in forecasts, only in the result and a specific plan: how we will develop the machine-building industry and what we will have to do to help our enterprises. This field is of paramount importance for the economy, with one in five Belarusians working in industry. It generates 21% of GDP. That is why we pay so much attention to it, because transportation, logistics and other parts of the economy are tied to it."
Belarusian Industry: struggle for domestic and foreign markets
Belarusian manufacturers are capable of producing a lot of machinery. It is necessary to improve the quality of goods. After all, it is the main trump card in the export market and the struggle for contracts is sharper than ever.
The President also drew attention to large-scale investment projects: the paper mills in Shklov and Dobrush, as well as Svetlogorsk Pulp and Paper Mill. The giants designed to generate good foreign exchange earnings have not yet reached their maximum capacity. Another plan is to build a new facility for the production of nitrogen fertilizers within five years.
By the way, last year was not a bad one for Orsha cluster, which, as you know, received special attention. The enterprises worked with a net profit. Now they are preparing a pool of projects for the next 2 years.
