Trade turnover between Belarus and Nizhny Novgorod Region approaching $1 billion

20 мая 2022
Belarus and Russia keep on strengthening the interregional cooperation. This time a delegation from Nizhny Novgorod Region headed by the governor is visiting Minsk. Our partnership with this region is going rather well. Our trade turnover has doubled in comparison with the pandemic year and is approaching a billion dollars. There is room for deeper cooperation in many areas, from food supplies to industrial cooperation and import substitution. And, as Alexander Lukashenko has announced, he intends to discuss these subjects, including with Vladimir Putin, in the near future.

Lukashenko: Effective cooperation with Russia is based on strong economic and cooperation ties.

According to our President, efficient cooperation with Russia is based on strong economic and cooperation relations. By the way, they will be another topic for discussion with his Russian counterpart. The point is not to compete with each other, but to raise the level of our products and compete with our foreign counterparts.

The Nizhny Novgorod region is determined to replace imports from Western countries with Belarusian products. The region's leadership has prepared a catalog with 4.5 thousand required items (imported from unfriendly countries). The document has already been submitted to the government.
