Own raw material base to help Belarus and Russia to become monopolists in flax production

Belarus and Russia need to create their own raw materials base of the Union State. This will help both countries, in the period of sanctions pressure, not only to expand their own production in the light industry and occupy the free niches after the leaving European and Western brands from the Russian market, but also to become monopolists in flax production in the future. Negotiations are now underway with the Belarusian concern Bellegprom, which is ready to provide its Russian colleagues with everything they need, from fabric and fiber to leather and fittings. Belarus and Russia also need to develop an integration project for flax production.

Yuri Krupnov, economist, Chairman of the Development Movement (Russia):
We need to strive for a million hectares and about 300 thousand tons of fiber. This task should be formalized in the union integration project. Today we are seriously ahead of Belarus. We do not need to be shy to learn. Everything is new at the Orsha plant, about 120-180 million dollars was invested, but it was all spent wisely, there are excellent technologies. We have to strengthen it all. Orsha flax processing business has its representative office only in 40 countries. That is, we have places to supply products and to provide the whole world with flax.Russian fashion designers also faced sanctions pressure. Whereas previously fabrics for haute couture collections were bought mainly in Europe, now they are ready to buy materials from Turkey, Russia, and Belarus.
