Belarus-Kazakhstan Business Forum opens in Minsk today

25 июня 2013
Economic ties will be strengthened at business matchmaking sessions and bilateral meetings. The Kazakh delegation is interested in creating joint ventures and establishing contacts with the major Belarusian manufacturers.

By Natalia Kuzmitskaya: During the existence of the Customs Union, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Belarus has increased by several times; in 2012 it amounted to almost a billion dollars, but the potential for the bilateral trade development is far from being exhausted. In coming years, the parties intend to double the bilateral trade.
One step towards that goal was a meeting of representatives of Belarus and Kazakhstan business structures. This is the second event of this kind. Previously, the Belarusian side demonstrated its export potential in Astana, which resulted in signing agreements worth 9 million dollars.

Yergali Bulgenov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Belarus: I hope that today's business forum will be just as comprehensive as it was last year.

Export development and search for new markets in Belarus is the main goal of the Kazakh delegation.

Karybay Ablezov, commercial director of a helicopter assembly company: In the CIS, our enterprise is the only one to produce and assemble helicopters and to train pilots and engineers. I think, this will be widely used by the Emergencies Ministry, the Ministry of Health and the Interior Ministry.

Among the promising areas of cooperation is establishment of joint ventures. This form of partnership has already gained a good reputation and is effective in all sectors of the economy. This was pointed out by the President of Belarus during the Common Economic Space Summit in Astana at the personal meeting with the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus: We regard Kazakhstan as the most attractive and promising partner for Belarus. We are ready to take an active part in the modernization of your country and have already been doing that. We have a lot of projects and almost no problems in their implementation. This demonstrates the level of our cooperation.

In April, the Prime Ministers of the two countries signed an agreement on joint production of modern farm machinery and vehicles. All in all, today there are 13 joint ventures in Belarus and Kazakhstan. The list will undoubtedly be expanded.
