Unified electric energy market of Union State to start functioning on January 1, 2024

Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich said that active negotiations with the Russian side are going on at the moment.  A draft interstate agreement on the formation of a unified electric energy market of the Union State has been prepared. This document will set the legal framework for the establishment and operation of the market. In the future, the powers of the state administration bodies and infrastructure organizations will be determined.

Besides, the composition of entities, which will participate in the purchase and sale of electric energy on the unified market, will be clearly defined. At the final stage, the rules of market functioning will be adopted.
