On April 29, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko paid a working trip to Gomel Region aimed at restoring the areas affected by the Chernobyl accident. The social and economic development of the lands, agricultural issues and provision of quality services to the population in the Chernobyl-affected areas will be the focus of attention of the Head of State. In particular, the President is getting familiar with the work of the dairy farm "Otor" and with the progress in the spring field work both in the district and in the entire region.
The Minister of Agriculture reported that spring crops have been sown over almost 40% of the planned areas. The leader is Grodno Region, where more than 55% of the areas are sown. There are no problems with the availability of seeds and fertilizers, machinery and fuel in the country. The head of state emphasized the need to produce one's own seeds so that to avoid importing the elite sorts.
