Prime Ministers of Belarus and Russia sign package of documents in energy sector

Today, a meeting of Prime Ministers of Belarus and Russia was held in Moscow. It should be noted that this is Roman Golovchenko's first working visit to the Russian Federation. 

The trade turnover between Belarus and Russia exceeded $35 billion in 2019. 

In 2019, the trade turnover of the two countries exceeded 35 billion dollars. This year's coronavirus pandemic has reduced it slightly. Russian exports to Belarus fell by more than 30%, while Belarusian exports to Russia fell by only 7%. As a result of today's meeting, three documents were signed in the energy sector. And all of them, as stressed by the Belarusian Prime Minister, are for the benefit of our country.

Roman Golovchenko, Prime Minister of Belarus: "All these agreements are in for the benefit of Belarus. They are related to the construction of a nuclear power plant and the conditions of energy supplies, which are very beneficial for our country. With the construction of the nuclear power plant, the republic received savings, which are estimated at hundreds of millions of dollars.  This decision is very beneficial for our country. The agreement was reached by the heads of state - Presidents of Belarus and Russia" 

Railway and air traffic between Belarus and Russia will be restored in the coming days.

The prime ministers also discussed the opening of the borders between the two countries. According to Roman Golovchenko, air and rail traffic between Belarus and Russia will open in the coming days.

A meeting of the Eurasian Inter-Regional Council is planned in Minsk.

A meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in a face-to-face format is scheduled for July 17 in Minsk. The Prime Minister added that the Belarusian side, which is presiding over the bodies of the Eurasian Economic Union this year, is preparing to submit important issues related to the further operation of the EAEC to the Eurasian Interstate Council.
