President demands to outline prospects of oil market and its diversification

The first 80 thousand tons of oil from Norway will arrive at Novopolotsk "Naftan" for recycling. Belarus is considering all the alternatives. The priority is to diversify and reduce costs at all stages. These are the challenges posed today by the President to the top managers of the government and industry. The Head of State demanded to outline short- and medium- term prospects of the oil market and the position of Belarus in it.

It is not the first time that Russian companies are showing jealousy towards allies in the Union market. There are no other pipes except Russian in the vast expanses of Eurasia from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan to Belarus and Ukraine.

Georgy Grits, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Scientific and Industrial Association: "The Druzhba pipeline was built by the whole Soviet Union, oil refineries too. We have become sovereign nations. And it's a classic: there's a price to pay for sovereignty. This story has been going on for 10 years, the President has repeatedly talked about alternative supplies. Moreover, there were already alternative supplies from most countries of the world. Venezuela, Azerbaijan, the Baltics, but it was episodic."
