By Alexander Savenko: The idea of introducing the electronic road pricing system was discussed at the highest level last fall. It is a transit position of Belarus that attached significance to the issue. After all, this was an innovative project.

Erwin Toplak, Kapsch TrafіcCom Chief Operating Officer: When we choose a country, we always appreciate its readiness for such a system. As for Belarus, the quality of roads here is much better than in some other countries.

In total, the BelToll system charges fees for 815 kilometers of Belarusian roads. The new system of payment applies to foreigners, as well as trucks and buses weighing more than 3.5 tons. Passenger vehicles of the Customs Union Troika will be exempt from fees.

The rates are as follows: 4 euro cents for cars with foreign license plates and 8-12 cents for foreign road-trains and buses. This is the cost of 1 kilometer.

Special on-board devices by means of which the money is collected can already be purchased at filling stations or roadside cafes from 9.00 till 22:00. The price ranges from 20 to 50 euros depending on the type of the vehicle. You can also replenish your account there.

Information about non-payers is submitted to a database. Special cars fully equipped with everything necessary to control the violators are connected to it. There are 16 such cars in Belarus.

Alexei Kutsaev, officer of the Transport Inspectorate of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus: According to the recent data, the system has already registered several thousand violations.

Charges for unpaid passage are quite high - up to 260 euros.
Drivers can contact the BelToll call center to get all the necessary information.
