The President was informed about the current situation in energy and petrochemicals. These are strategic sectors of our economy, which form a large part of the country's GDP. It is important to ensure the sustainable operation of the enterprises in this sphere. This year has been difficult, taking into account the oil tax maneuver in Russia. The price of Russian oil for Belarus is close to the world price.

Our country is looking for new transit corridors, expanding the pool of suppliers of hydrocarbons, buying raw materials from Norway, Azerbaijan, and Saudi Arabia. Belarusian plants are starting to process American oil for the first time. Alternative purchases should be stable, our President emphasizes.

The President paid special attention to the largest investment project in history. The nuclear power plant is almost ready. Fuel has been loaded into the nuclear reactor. The first electricity will be received here in the autumn. Putting the plant into operation will cover about a third of the country's domestic electricity needs. These are new opportunities not only for power engineers, but also for scientists and industrialists, and will accelerate the development of electric transport. The main thing is to integrate the nuclear power plant into the existing energy system of the country.

According to the relevant Minister, work is actively underway to increase electricity consumption in the country. A system of incentive tariffs is being developed. They will depend on the volume of consumption. The more kilowatts – the lower rates! Specific payment mechanisms will be available by the end of the year.

Major investment programs are being implemented at Belarusian refineries in Novopolotsk and Mozyr. This will increase the depth of oil refining to 90-100 % and benefit the profitability and competitiveness of a key sector of the economy. The President promises to see the new products in person.

Processing plants are loaded with raw materials today. Deliveries are scheduled until the end of the year. According to its results, it is planned to process at least 16,5 million tons of oil. Belneftekhim noted that it would continue systematic work on the supply of alternative oil. Their share in the total volume is approaching 10%.
