Minsk supports initiative of the UN Secretary General on the need to lift sanctions and reintegrate food and fertilizer production of Belarus into world markets. This will be an important step towards international food security. This was stated by the Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN, speaking at the Council of the World Organization.

Valentin Rybakov, Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN:
Back in November 2021, the World Bank reported on the negative effects of sanctions imposed by the EU, the U.S., Britain and Canada on Belarusian potash fertilizers. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has repeatedly warned the international community about the harmfulness of sanctions against the Belarusian potash industry and food products. These warnings of the Belarusian head of state have been reported to the UN General Assembly and the UN Security Council. The authors of such sanctions were not willing to listen then and they are not listening today either to international institutions, experts or representatives of the countries, where hunger and malnutrition threaten the survival of entire nations. The diplomat also stressed that Belarus would do its best to support the dialogue launched (by the efforts of our President) to put an end to the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible, and was ready to contribute to global food security.
