Minsk and Helsinki interested in parliamentary cooperation

This was stated by the Chairman of the Council of the Republic at a meeting with the delegation of the Parliament of Finland. The guests noted that the relations between the two countries are built on a good pragmatic basis.

Negotiations with the delegation from Finland were held by the Chairman of the Standing Committee on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic. Sergei Rakhmanov noted that Minsk and Helsinki are interested in reducing tensions in the relations between the West and the East.

Sergei Rakhmanov, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus: "Finland is one of those countries, which is focused on ensuring regional and global stability, and Belarus thinks exactly the same way."

The sides also discussed the possibility of starting discussions in the OSCE about the need of the organization in a new Helsinki process and discussed issues related to cooperation through international organizations.
