Ministry of Natural Resources: Belarus and Russia will get ready for European Union carbon tax together

27 сентября 2021

Belarus and Russia have agreed to develop measures for the introduction of the European Union carbon tax, which will come into force in 2026, said the Ministry of Natural Resources. Also, at a joint meeting of the boards of the ministries, the relevant minister noted that environmental issues are among the priorities in the relations between the two countries. The issue of cooperation in the field of waste management is also in the focus of attention. I would like to note that today Belarus engages about 30% of municipal waste in economic turnover. By 2025, we have an ambitious target to double that figure. For its part, the Russian side noted: the topical issue is recycling packaging, cooperation of hydrometeorological services and climate issues.
