International exhibition Belagro starts in Minsk

3 июня 2015

By Dmitry Titov: The largest agricultural forum features the latest Belarusian agricultural equipment. Immediately after the opening of the Belagro exhibition, Georgia’s Agriculture Minister spoke with the Gomselmash director. The new range of combined harvesters is, firstly, ready to help countries with low yield and, secondly, become the champion in the harvesting campaign.

In January-April this year, the country produced 30 tons of meat and 150,000 litres of milk more than in the 2014. Last year, Belarusian farmers set a record by harvesting 38 centners of grain per hectare, which is the national average. For the first time, more than 10 million tons of grain have been milled, largely due to new technologies.

Over the past 7 years, Belarus has produced 22 billion dollars worth of agricultural products, two thirds of which have been exported. The work of Belarus’ agricultural complex is expected to be efficient in the next five years, farmers believe. The country’s food security has been ensured, and significant volumes of domestic products are expected abroad. Promotion to the EU market is a matter of time.

Belagro was attended by 60,000 visitors last year. The first day alone of the current exhibition saw 3,000 guests. Judging by the number of accreditations, many representatives of foreign companies should arrive one of these days. The exhibition is due to run till 6 June.
