Small and medium-sized businesses to make up half of country's GDP by end of next five-year period

This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Piotr Prokopovich at the offsite meeting in Zhlobin. An industrial platform for the development of small enterprises will be opened here on the site of a former military base. Entrepreneurs have been offered to rent the building, which preserved the necessary infrastructure from water supply to the railway. In the near future, there will be several business structures engaged in furniture manufacturing, trade and public catering.

The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that about 1.5 million people are now involved in the Belarusian private sector. Entrepreneurs should not only produce high-demand goods, but also employ workers who may be laid off as a result of the modernization of large state-owned enterprises.
