Limits on parcels and free economic zones with special status envisaged in new Customs Code

21 декабря 2017

Representatives of the State Customs Committee spoke today in Minsk about the changes that the new Customs Code assumes. It will enter into force on January 1, 2018. Among the possible innovations is the creation of duty-free shops at the entrance to the countries of the EAEU, including Belarus. In addition, limits for international postal items will be revised.

This will be done by the Eurasian Economic Commission. Belarus may consider adjusting at the national level as well: this point is envisaged in the draft presidential decree on ratification of the new Customs Code.

The draft presidential decree also specifies changes in the free economic zones which will work with simplified rules of customs regulation. It is possible to create free economic zones with a special legal status - territorial. There will be two zones with maximum simplification in Belarus.
