Belarus’ state debt is manageable and serviceable

Belarus’ state debt is manageable and serviceable, as announced by First Deputy Finance Minister Maxim Ermolovich at today’s expanded meeting of the House of Representatives’ Standing Commission on Budget and Finance.

Last year, Belarus paid out more than 7 billion rubles in a prompt manner, the main share accounting for external debt repayment. According to the First Deputy Finance Minister, the reduction of export duty on potash fertilizers from 55 to 20 euros per ton will not significantly affect this year’s budget. The country will receive a significant part of the funds as potash industry revenues and the profit tax. Maxim Ermolovich also commented on the reduction of the refinancing rate from 14% to 13%.

A detailed report will be aired in tonight’s Panorama program.
