Gosatomnadzor to consider all recommendations of European experts on results of stress tests of Belarusian NPP

The European Union approved the results of the tests. The experts recommended that Belarusian colleagues study the seismic activity of the region, conduct a comprehensive assessment for the station and work out a coherence of actions during weather and seismic instability, since an earthquake was observed in Belarus in 1908. Also, it was offered to install some additional equipment for uninterrupted power supply and pumping out water. According to the head of the delegation of the office on nuclear regulation in the UK, all these recommendations have no effect on the installed part of the nuclear power plant and require minor improvements.

Belarus held stress tests on a voluntary basis. International experts appreciated the degree of safety of the station. They noted the systems of passive removal of residual heat, presence of a melt trap, several levels of deep protection that can prevent serious accidents, as well as the availability of a full-fledged computer simulator that allows predicting emergency situations and instructing personnel to eliminate them.
