Golovchenko: Growth rate of Belarusian exports to Russia amount to 156% in first quarter of this year

The growth rate of Belarusian exports to Russia was 156 percent in the first quarter. This was announced today by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko. The government talked about the increase in supplies of Belarusian goods to the Russian market, as well as what it is important to pay attention to producers.

This year we have considerably stepped up interaction with the regions of the neighboring country. Every month we host two or three heads of Russian regions in Belarus and visit at least one Russian region. Among the issues discussed there were the accounting of technological operations and access of Belarusian producers to subsidy programs in Russia.

Dmitry Krutoy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia:

“This is a new niche that we may not have paid much attention to behind our flagships - MAZs, BelAZs, MTZs - but today they can give a weighty boost. This is light industry and woodworking, which traditionally have always been more oriented toward Western markets, but now, in the context of sanctions, are starting to work actively in Russia. These are board products and furniture products. There will be showrooms for Belarusian goods, following the example of Ikea, which has left Russia today and whose place we simply must take. Or it could be the development of branded trade of our largest manufacturers. These models were discussed today by the Prime Minister. And given the cost effectiveness and implementation timeframe, they should be implemented very quickly.”

There are also new proposals for our builders. As for the modernization of Russia's agro-industrial complex, these include the construction of dairy farms, greenhouses and vegetable storage facilities.
