Environmentalists from Belarus and Russia monitor construction of Belarusian NPP

By Natalia Tarasyuk: Environmentalists fr om Belarus and Russia held the next stage of monitoring the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. They measured the power of gamma radiation and took samples of soil and water, taken near the Belarusian NPP.

All in all, they chose 820 points near the construction site itself, as well as the river Viliya and the place where nuclear scientists will live near the town of Ostrovets.

The samples will be sent to Moscow, wh ere experts of the laboratory of Moscow State University will examine them and will present their results in about a month.

All these data will form the basis for the environmental passport of this region. Measurements will continue, and the information will be constantly updated. Thus, environmentalists will be able to compare the indicators before and after the launch of the Belarusian NPP.
