Delegation of Mogilev Region pays business visit to Smolensk Region

Vladimir Semkin reports: This is the first meeting of this level for the youngest governor of Russia Alexei Ostrovsky. The keynote of the meeting was the increase of the commodity turnover between the two regions – up to USD 300 million. 


A total of 13 agreements on mutually beneficial cooperation in the spheres of science, culture and education were signed. One of the most important was the agreement on the creation of joint innovational enterprises.

The issue of agriculture and village restoration was also discussed.

The delegation of the Mogilev Region included state officials, heads of large state and private companies who had the opportunity to meet with their Russian colleagues and sign agreements at the contact exchange.

The head of the Belarusian delegation called the Smolensk Region the gateway to Russia. This is a region through which it is possible to sell goods to other markets of the neighboring country. The governor of the Smolensk Region promised to lend support in the promotion of Belarusian products.
