The possibility of establishing a Belarusian-Sri Lankan assembly plant has been discussed at the Minsk Automobile Plant today.

The delegation led by President Mahinda Rajapaksa familiarized themselves with new equipment samples and work patterns of the car assembly plant. According to experts, if the joint venture contract is signed, MAZ will be able to sell equipment to Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal and Pakistan duty-free. It has been estimated that a Belarusian-Sri Lankan assembly plant will be able to produce up to 300 vehicles per year. After visiting MAZ, representatives of the Sri Lanka delegation went to the Minsk Tractor Plant.
