Belarusian NPP to be launched on time

21 февраля 2018

This was stated by head of the Ministry of Energy Vladimir Potupchik at the final board of the department. The annual meeting was held in Ostrovets.

Ostrovets is the most important strategic construction in Belarus. After all, the launch of the nuclear power plant guarantees savings on the purchase of Russian gas: minus 5 billion cubic meters every year.

A special control regime has been introduced on the site in Ostrovets to ensure compliance with all construction deadlines. The plan for the construction of the station is only 80% completed. It is important to accelerate the construction and launch the first power unit of the Belarusian NPP by the end of 2019.

There is no doubt that Belarusian electricity will be competitive on the common Eurasian market.

Meanwhile, Belarus continues dialogue with international experts. In 2016 the Belarusian station passed stress tests. The object can withstand any external impact. The national report was sent to the European Commission.

Experts are expected in Minsk in March. Comments of the Belarusian side will be presented to more than 20 specialists from 17 countries.
