In order to successfully solve all social issues, we need a serious economic foundation. We have a strong foundation. Time has already proved it. We confidently withstand the sanction blow. But we all understand perfectly well: a tough economic war will only grow. As stressed the chairman of the lower house of parliament Vladimir Andreichenko at a meeting of the eighth session, today it is necessary to quickly rebuild the national economy with an emphasis on our advantages and to use the potential of friendly countries. The Belarusian government has already approved a plan to support the economy. The task of the parliamentarians is to actively work on the legislation.
Security issues
The issues of national security are also on the parliamentary agenda. A bill to amend the Criminal Code was passed in two readings. For example, Belarus may introduce capital punishment for attempted acts of terrorism. The innovations are dictated by the time. Attempts to swing the situation do not cease. The draft law is designed to have a serious deterrent effect on destructive elements, as well as to demonstrate an implacable struggle of the state against terrorist activity.
Marina Lenchevskaya, Deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus:
You can see what a difficult foreign policy situation we live in today. And it is obvious that destabilization of the socio-political and economic situation in our country continues. If earlier it was less radical, now we see specific radical manifestations and radical calls, which, unfortunately, are supported by foreign states and organizations. Today, the law enforcement agencies are recording a significant number of terrorist aspirations against critical facilities. And today it is certainly necessary to put a clear legislative barrier in place. Measures against such crimes should be adequate, proactive, preventive. Citizens of Belarus should feel protected.
Parliamentarians support changes to the Criminal Code
The document also provides exemption from criminal liability of those members of criminal groups who report on the preparation of a terrorist attack.
