Belarusian nuclear power plant resistant to extreme external influences

8 ноября 2017

The Belarusian nuclear power plant is resistant to extreme external influences: earthquakes, floods, heavy rains, snowstorms and a combination of these conditions.

The results of the stress tests were announced today in the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus.

The operator of the nuclear power plant held the tests in 2016. Then the specialists of the Interdepartmental Working Group joined in preparing the final report. At present, the national report has been sent to the European Commission. Such stress tests were developed by the European Union after the accident in 2011 at Fukushima. They are not mandatory. However, Belarus conducted them on its own initiative.
