Belarus has always insisted on priority of food security

Growing food problems in the world due to conflicts, the climate crisis, quarantine due to coronavirus, and disruptions in mineral fertilizer supplies are sharply inflating prices.  Belarus has always insisted on the priority of food security both internationally and domestically.  Moreover, during the whole period of its independence our country has been working to address these issues with maximum efficiency.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus:

“Those who have not smelled this bread will never understand that you must to have your own products. We should have everything that we are capable of producing ourselves. It raises the nation, the people, gives them an opportunity to earn money. For some reason, some people think that complete food security and $6 billion worth of annual food exports fell to us from the sky. The demand for food in the world is growing.”

A new world food crisis may significantly aggravate the contradictions in international relations.  However, it can also be a signal to unite and finish the confrontation in the face of one big common threat. Belarus is ready, as always, to take part in solving these problems.

Alexander Lukashenko spoke about this, among other things, over the phone with UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
