Belarus suspends export of light oil products to Poland, Ukraine and Baltic countries

23 April 2019

Belarus has suspended the export of light petroleum products to Poland, Ukraine and the Baltic countries until the issue of low-quality Russian oil is resolved. The decrease in volumes, explained the Belarusian Oil Company, is aimed to preserve the stability of the domestic oil market of the country.

The damage from the suspension of exports of domestic petroleum products abroad is estimated. Belarus is actively working on the issue of preventing sanctions from partner countries. A sharp deterioration in the quality of Russian oil, which is  transited through the main oil pipeline Druzhba led to damage to expensive equipment at  Mozyr Oil Refinery. In order to prevent the failure of the system, Naftan has reduced the oil refining by half.
