Belarus to help Penza Region in import substitution of Western products

31 марта 2022
Together, we will counteract the pressure of sanctions, develop the economy and set up joint ventures. This was the subject of discussion at today's meeting of the President with a representative delegation from Penza Region, headed by Governor Oleg Melnichenko.

There are plenty of proposals and projects for joint implementation, all of them are vitally important both for Belarus and Russia. The mutual trade with Penza Region was not stopped even by the pandemic. In 2021, the trade turnover with the region amounted to about $100 million. And economic sanctions will push for even closer fruitful cooperation, including at the interregional level. This emphasis was once again voiced by the head of state. Cooperation in agriculture, industry, tourism, and culture will be developed. It is a difficult time, but it is a time of great opportunities for our countries, Alexander Lukashenko said.

Belarus is ready to share its experience and expertise

The Belarusian head of state pointed out that Belarus has advanced technologies in agriculture and is always ready to share experience and best practices. Another field is construction: housing and social and industrial facilities. The head of our state advocates the creation of own Belarusian-Russian production facilities.

Penza Region outlined a wide range of import substitution: more than 800 items. The Penza Region delegation included representatives of the industrial association, chamber of commerce and industry, heads of large enterprises.
