24 февраля 2021
Intergovernmental cooperation is of paramount importance at this difficult time. Mutual trade turnover of agricultural products and food products between Belarus and Kazakhstan increased and exceeded $307 million last year. At the same time, our exports account for almost $290 million. This was reported at the meeting of the joint Belarusian-Kazakhstani working group. They discussed promising areas of cooperation today: among them are food trade and the production of veterinary drugs.

Belarus is interested in increasing the supply of agricultural products to Kazakhstan, primarily meat and dairy products, as well as equipment for the construction of dairy farms. In addition, the parties spoke about cooperation in training and retraining of personnel.

Ivan Krupko, Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus: "The development of the agro-industrial complex cannot be without trained qualified specialists. We have developed a program today. Within two days, the dairy plant, Dzerzhinsk agricultural complex, our MTZ, the Belarusian Agrarian Technical University will be visited, and guidance to cooperate in science, education and, most importantly, personnel training will be developed."

Saparkhan Omarov, Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan: "Today we are working closely with Belarus in this direction. There are already joint ventures for the production of agricultural machinery in Kazakhstan. Another sphere for cooperation is the sugar industry. We are now developing it in Kazakhstan and Belarus has a lot of experience. And here we hope that we will work together, create joint ventures."

There are results in testing of plant varieties. The countries will continue to work this out. The first meeting of the working group was held in Kazakhstan in 2019.
