Belarus and Vietnam strengthen cooperation

The potential for developing trade and economic ties is great. This was confirmed by the official visit of the Prime Minister of Vietnam to our country. Today Nguyen Tan Dung held talks with his Belarusian counterpart at the Government House. After lunch he met with parliamentarians. The parties signed a package of agreements, businessmen concluded 10 contracts worth 100 million dollars. But this is only the beginning. Belarus offered Vietnam a program of financial support for joint projects. Now the bilateral trade turnover has reached 200 million dollars. It is planned to double the figure in 3 years.


By Sergei Khamentovsky: This is the first official visit of Nguyen Tan Dung as Prime Minister to Belarus. Over the past five years, the trade turnover between Belarus and Vietnam has increased by almost 3 times. Last year, it approached 200 million dollars. High-level contacts have brought the Belarusian-Vietnamese friendship to the level of strategic partnership. Special attention was paid in Minsk to the draft agreement on a free trade zone between the Customs Union countries and Vietnam. Liberalization of the economic regime will create new opportunities. According to experts, the customs troika will increase the volume of trade with Vietnam as early as in 2015 up to 7 billion dollars. It is expected that ties between the world economic blocs, the EAEC and ASEAN, will be established by 2014.


The negotiations resulted in signing a package of agreements and 10 contracts worth 100 million dollars.


Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam: The parties have agreed on the need to continue the exchange of delegations, especially at the highest level, to coordinate actions in the fields of trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as to give a new impetus to the bilateral partnership”.


After the negotiations, the guests laid flowers to the monument on the Victory Square and met with MPs.
