Belarus and St. Petersburg outline promising areas of cooperation

These are projects in the field of nano- and biotechnologies as well as the production of medicines still being imported in large volumes. This was stated by Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich at the Business Cooperation Council in St. Petreburg.


By Svetlana Konopatskaya: The sixth consecutive session of the Business Council in St. Petersburg was dedicated to the joint cooperation program analysis. The sides noted the bilateral trade turnover increase by over 12 per cent. The Belarusian Prime Minister offered crossing the turnover of 2 billion dollars. New promising ideas and projects are needed. The parties expressed their readiness to move from goods exchange to innovations.


Much attention was paid to the implementation of the planned projects with Mogilevliftmash, MAZ and Yarovit Motors.


The Business Council of Belarus and St. Petersburg resulted in the signing of several documents including the contract between St. Petersburg and Minsk City and Regional Executive Committees.

Speaking of interregional cooperation, Mikhail Myasnikovich noted that over the last 6 months Belarus has invested 1,100,000,000 dollars in the Russian economy, while the foreign countries have contributed about 2 billion in total. This shows the great potential of our countries, the Prime Minister said.
