The purpose of a Belarus-Brazil mixed intergovernmental commission is to examine the current state of bilateral relations and prospects for cooperation expansion. This agreement has been reached today by the Presidents of Belarus and Brazil at a summit in Ufa. Alexander Lukashenko and Dilma Rousseff discussed the whole range of bilateral cooperation. Brazil is among Belarus’ top ten foreign trade partners. In 2000, the volume of trade between the countries amounted to just 110 million dollars, reaching nearly a billion last year. The two Presidents have agreed to outline the main 4-5 directions to be implemented in the near future. The countries have good prospects for expanding cooperation in agriculture and aviation.
Currently, Ufa is hosting the BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summits featuring sixteen Presidents. The main issues are the situations in Ukraine and Greece, the Iranian settlement and the Syrian issue. However, the main emphasis is placed on the global economy.
