The progressive development of the Belarusian society haunts Western countries, which see the future of the post-Soviet space somewhat differently. A stable economy and a stable Belarus are not needed and not profitable, otherwise how can the masses ofpeople be encouraged to protest. Sticks are inserted into the wheels methodically, using the services of the Baltic countries. While the European partners are frightening with sanctions and interfering in the internal affairs of Belarus, our country is introducing countermeasures and transferring its cargo to the East.
And this is not only an economic benefit, but also political support for each other in a difficult time for both countries.
Cargoes arrive at the Ust-Lugaterminal from all over Russia. A unique heated drain technology is used for dark oil products. The contents of the tanks is heated to 90 degrees and only then it is poured into the tanks. The entire work process is monitored by a smart control system around the clock. The monitors receive all the information.
Ust-Luga received the first consignment of cargo in 2011. And today its production capacity is 30 million tons of oil products per year. And this is not only an economic benefit, but also political support, in a difficult time for both countries.
Konstantin Khamlai, General Director of Ust-Luga Oil: "The political factor is the factor that we businessmen cannot neglect. In my opinion, there can be no political risks between our countries, Belarus and Russia. And in this sense, this risk is absent. When we talk about brotherhood, these are not empty words. So, we are ready, we are waiting, and you are welcome. Belarusian producers receive will receive guaranteed transshipment at the largest terminal in Russia, and if we talk about the possibilities of the railway, this is the largest terminal in Europe."
Our country is one of the main trade and economic partners of Russia. Last year, the trade turnover amounted to USD 500 million. In 2020, due to the pandemic, it fell by 7%, and now there are all the prerequisites to increase it. The arrival of Belarusian goods to the ports of the Leningrad Region will help it. There are now two issues to be resolved. The first is the cost of transit. According to Alexander Drozdenko, Russian Railways, as a large company, can establish flexible tariffs that will suit both parties. The second issue is port dues.
Alexander Drozdenko, Governor of Leningrad Region (Russia): "I want to say that all companies that work in the port of Leningrad Region are ready to set flexible tariffs, moreover, everyone is interested in receiving the cargo, because this is an increase in port turnover, and the higher the turnover is, the lower is the cost of cargo. Conditions may vary. There are existing port facilities where a simple contract for the handling and shipment of cargo can be concluded. There are port facilities under construction, where you can become a shareholder and, within the framework of the partnership, determine all the components of tariffs. There are terminals that are ready to work tomorrow, there are those that are being built and ready to work the day after tomorrow."
VyacheslavPetrenko, Deputy General Director of NovotransAktiv LLC: "If Belaruskali is ready to come to us seriously and for a long time, we will organize the work for the technology that is needed. Therefore, depending on their needs, we will provide them with the technology they need. "
There was also an idea to build our own Belarusian terminal in the territory of the Russian port. The funds saved on the construction of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant can be used for these purposes. In any case, if you look at the future, it is a mutually beneficial project for both countries, where economic benefits are backed up by political guarantees and fraternal relations.
